Deporte, educación y cine: prácticas corporales y saberes técnicos en el primer peronismo

Abstract

The aim is to study the link between education and sport in Argentinean cinema during the first Peronism (1945-1955). It is analysed five contemporary films as a reference, that show how different social representations coexist. The first part is based on interpreting the prestige of traditionally disciplinary institutions on education, such as the school, the police and the church, (La serpiente de cascabel y El cura Lorenzo). The second part shows the new requirements of industrial automobilistic development and their appreciation of technical knowledge (Bólidos de acero, Cinco locos en la pista and Fangio, el demonio de las pistas). This analysis carries out a hermeneutic methodological approach to the films that is articulated with a historical perspective from primary sources, which allows us to conclude about the period’s attention to sports youth education and to interpret the tensions between imaginaries of diverse origins typical of a transition stage.
