The First Soviet Cinema and Mass Education: A Pedagogical Project at the Service of the Revolution
Abstract It is known that for Lenin the cinema was the most important of all the arts, so that early Soviet cinema until the beginning of the 1930s, basically silent, exerted a great projection under the lee of the winds of the vanguards. In reality, Spain could not escape this influence either, which was very present during the years of the Second Republic and the Civil War. In any case, the initial stage of testing and experimentation of Soviet cinema collided with political interests that saw cinema as an instrument of ideological propaganda and mass education, to spread the ideal of the new Soviet man. With these budgets, some of the productions of Dziga Vértov and Serguei Eisenstein, filmmakers who participated in the beginning of the October Revolution of 1917, are analyzed.
