Science in pictures. Visual construction and scientific documentary

Abstract

In the current television context, where entertainment is increasingly important, scientific documentaries embrace some new narrative and visual forms. Along the history of cinema, recording real images has become more and more sophisticated as technologies have developed new possibilities to present science by means of interesting images. More recently, science documentary has entered a new era, with computer generated images. However, the use of both real and virtual images to represent science can create some conflicts, as they can reduce scientific rigour and referential value of the film.
