La Revista de Estudios Brasileños, editada por Ediciones Universidad de Salamanca, en colaboración con la Universidade de São Paulo, se ofrece como un cauce de expresión académico dinámico y abierto a cuantas personas se interesen por todo lo que configura la identidad de Brasil, en los ámbitos de las Humanidades, Ciencias Sociales y Jurídicas.

El objetivo de la revista es incentivar y establecer discusiones académicas y científicas, divulgar investigaciones, constituyendo una plataforma en estudios brasileños. Tal objetivo revela significativa importancia, dado el desarrollo de los estudios brasileños como nueva área del conocimiento académico. Consecuentemente, crecen las iniciativas de colaboración en investigaciones académicas conjuntas entre distintas universidades, y en este contexto de intercambio de ideas entre comunidades académicas de brasileñistas dentro y fuera de Brasil, la Revista de Estudios Brasileños asume un espacio activo y dinámico.

Definida la línea editorial de REB, sus destinatarios directos son los académicos e investigadores que estudian Brasil, además de usuarios que por su actividad profesional puedan tener algún interés específico en la realidad brasileña. Se trata de una revista de periodicidad semestral que, en cada número, además del editorial y de una sección general, formada por artículos aprobados a partir del sistema de double-blind peer review (evaluación por pares ciegos externos) que traten de temas relacionados a la línea editorial, se publica una entrevista con un personaje relevante de la intelectualidad brasileña o del brasileñismo internacional, y un dossier que trate un tema en profundidad con artículos que lo analicen. También se incluye una sección de reseñas de libros recientemente publicados sobre los temas abordados por la revista.

The Revista de Estudios Brasileños addresses in the dossier of this issue a classic and central theme of current scientific thought: the relationship between Social Sciences studies and Science and Technology studies. In the following pages, a specific but plural aspect is analyzed: the study, from the social sciences, of the performance and content of Science and Technology studies. It is plural because, as highlighted in the introduction to the dossier and reflected in the diversity of the works collected here, the content of the different Social Sciences and the content of what are known as 'pure sciences' is very different. The History of Science is also that of the incorporation into it of the Social Sciences, which always involve a projection of values of a very different nature onto the reality to be analyzed, which is often the result of research inherent to the experimental sciences. This undoubtedly brings the relationship between experimental sciences and Social Sciences to the forefront, making the subjects of reflection very plural and making it especially interesting to analyze, from the Social Sciences, not only the results of the research of the experimental sciences, but also the reasons that lead them to choose certain research topics and the evaluation of the method employed. Therefore, the studies in the dossier invite the reader of a Social Sciences journal, such as the Revista de Estudios Brasileños, to reflect on the other sciences, not to consider them as something distant, but on the contrary, as a knowledge connected to their research and their own decisions.
