Presentation: Festivity and Power (XVIth-XVIIth centuries)
Abstract Superposed the New Cultural History to that of the Mentalities, the study of the festive universe was and he continues being specially frequented on having analyzed the baroque period. This particular affection does not owe to a chance. In Europe and in the areas extraeuropeos under his direct influence, the XVIth and XVIIth centuries correspond to a moment of differentiation between the popular culture and the culture of elite of humanist root, which had direct translation in the festive rituals. From the Renaissance, with the new protagonism that received the city and his elites, the culture of them come and his entertaining universe was imposed progressively though connections were staying with certain traditional forms.
