“War Economy” During the Second Punic War in Hispania
Abstract Contrary to the image of abundance that many of the ancient sources give for Hispania, the economic reality which the Romans found in the early stages was very different. Along with thepossibilities of exploitation, supplyproblems and famines, be known.The Roman commander’s decisions to resolve the complications are the first foundation of the Roman provincial administration. In this articlewe study the informations provided by the classical authors, the difficulties of economic unquantifiable data, and taxation mechanisms described.
