The Aula de Artes del Cuerpo of the University of León (2005-2022). Dialogues in Dance
Abstract
In this article we converse about our experiences in the construction –between 2005 and 2022– of a community space of contemporary dance and circus that we call «Aula de Artes del Cuerpo» in the framework of the Cultural Activities Area of the University of León. First, we ask ourselves about the conditions and contradictions of the university context from which we teach, investigate and approach creation. Utopian location or transit in multiple venues, as well as ways of understanding and practicing the relationships between art and education –the relationships between improvisation and composition, modes of participation and reception or inclusive pedagogy– are some of the central issues of the dialogue. From this memory, which serves as recognition and self-criticism, doubts and desires are distilled about the future modes of interaction of bodies in various scenes: the theatrical or choreographic, the university and the social.
