During the last years a lot of studies about the organisation of school time in Europe have been published. The changes that we have living at the moment in the European society force us to discuss about the children time and rhythms in the European schools. We are living a situation where time seems insufficient because every time we are required to know more things and work different fields, we are required to educated polyvalent young people, competent and flexible, that would be able to adapt themselves to the changeable society. Because that, it is essential in our work with the pupils to organize the school time. So, in order to plan it satisfactorily, we have to consider both the psychological and pedagogical aspects and other socio-educative questions. In order to understand a very complex phenomena that is the school time, we start this text showing a brief history about the concept, the focus and the perspectives adopted in the last researches. Then, we will see how the European schools have different realities and different experiences in some aspects related to the organisation of the calendar and the school time, so they are liable to be studied from a comparative perspective. And, in the last part, we present the particular case of the Local Educative Project in Strasbourg; a city that plans and organize the school rhythms of the pupils according to the needs of the local community, reorganising the school time.
