Del Comparatismo Espontáneo a la Literatura Mundial en América Latina

Abstract

Comparative literature is not in Latin America in the nineteenth century and only became institutionalized in countries like Brazil in the sixties of the twentieth century when entering college. However, in the early twentieth century theoretical definitions remain to fundamental questions of discipline since it is known that the comparison is implicit in every act of knowledge, so that is imposed define comparative literature, its objectives and specific methods
an area particularly suited for this purpose such as Latin America, and at a time and conflicting plural as is that of globalization. If until relatively recently have
distinguished two paradigms in comparative literature, the primitive, which is limited to a single comparativism, to call it somehow, it will happen after a second paradigm that comes after criticism by Wellek and the emergence of literary theory in the discipline. Currently actually do less than two decades, the second paradigm has been questioned as it is believed that the discipline of comparative literature must be reformulated or just die to make way for a world literature, the concept of nation-state has been obsolete. This paper provides
an overview of the literary comparativism in Latin America, where there have been three paradigms, focusing on the main contributions and theories that have occurred in the three areas.
