Abstract

More than three hundred Italian motion verbs have been examined for this paper, which have been grouped into subcategories according to their meaning and the semantic components conflated in the verb. We have noticed that each subgroup of motion verbs shows some preferences regarding the selection of the auxiliary verb, and there are certain factors such as lexical aspect, telicity and conflation of the path component in the verb that may also determine the selection of auxiliary verbs.
