Miguel de Unamuno: from the Instinct of Perpetuation to the Instinct of Community
Abstract This article will emphasize the importance of the concept of community and its connection with individuality and immortality, which evolved throughout Unamuno’s life and work. For this purpose, we will study the concept of “instinct of community”, in order to expand an interpretative area in Unamuno’s thought that has been left behind due to the attention paid to its famous “instinct of perpetuation”. We will conclude with an anti-positivist defense of the individual and the community formed by humans and nature.
