Abstract This article presents for the first time an unpublished document, the speech pronounced by Alain Guy at the reception of the honorary doctorate by the University of Salamanca in 1986. In this speech, which is fully reproduced as it is kept in the university’s archive, the French philosopher closely linked to Salamanca through the Seminar of History of Spanish and Ibero-American Philosophy founded 40 years ago by Professor Antonio Heredia Soriano, talks about the objectives of his research program, his personal relationships, his links with Salamanca and his philosophical universe.
