Two Edinburgh detective doctors united by fiction
Abstract A BBC five-episode series (2000-2001) fictionally narrates, through the resolution of several police cases, the true relationship between Professor Joseph Bell of the School of Medicine (University of Edinburgh, Scotland) and his disciple Arthur Conan Doyle, who was inspired by his teacher’s methodical research behavior and particular costumes to build up his mythical character: Sherlock Holmes
