Abstract

Stephen Hawking, author of the most fundamental theories of black hole´s behavior and other considerations of time and space, suffers from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, diagnosed during his last year at Oxford, as described in the movie The Theory of Everything (2014) directed by James Marsh and produced by Anthony McCarten. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig´s disease is a neurodegenerative disorder that causes progressive weakness of voluntary muscles. It is characterized by a degeneration of motor neurons in the motor cortex, brain stem and spinal cord.
