Ediciones Morata: Presence of a Family Publishing Project in the Spanish Academic Culture of the 20th Century
Abstract
This work studies the trajectory of Ediciones Morata and its presence in scientific culture over almost one hundred years, playing a relevant role despite its small size.
Its progressive dedication to the Social Sciences in the last fifty years, the volume of originals and reissues published, the collections that have appeared and the results of external evaluations show its weight in the field of these sciences, especially in Education, in this last stage.
The historical context, the functions and the editorial line, a summary of the main published subjects and the names of some authors are presented. Details of the editorial processes are also described, from the selection of originals to promotion, collaborations with other entities, and the image of the company: commercial catalogs or references that appear in texts and external evaluations.
