PRESENCIA DE SAN JUAN DE LA CRUZ EN EL «CANCIONERO» UNAMUNIANO

Abstract

This article traces the bearings of Spanish mysticism of the Golden Age on Unamuno'poetry. The works of Saint John of the Cross were read ans assimilated by the rector of Salamanca who, in various writings, and especially in his letters, eulogizes his poems as well as the profundity and originality os his thought. The influence of the Castilian mystic are analized in two poems of Unamunos'Cancionero: number 407, dated September 18, 1929, whose first line reads: ‹ ,Ay, telar de Fontiveros; and number 686, composed on February 11, 1929, whose first line is «San Juan de la Cruz, madrecito».
