El folklore y la canción popular infantil como recurso pedagógico y patrimonial en la Educación Musical: un acercamiento desde la Región de Murcia

Abstract

In a context characterized by cultural diversity and the progressive loss of intangible heritage, such as folklore, there arises the need to integrate traditional music into education as a means of cultural preservation and value–based learning. This paper offers a theoretical review of the educational and patrimonial value of folklore and traditional children´s songs in contemporary music education. It analyses the concepts and characteristics of these cultural expressions, their connection with major active methodologies of music teaching, and their formative potential in the development of musical, social, and cultural competences. Furthermore, it presents a review of the folklore of the Region of Murcia, highlighting its richness in ensembles, genres, and instruments. Finally, it reflects on the current situation of folklore in schools and its capacity to promote a more inclusive, meaningful, and culturally engaged approach to music education.
