Dalcroze and neuroscience. Didactic approaches

Abstract

The Dalcroze methodology proposes an active approach to music education that integrates music and body movement to foster deeper and more meaningful learning. Based on three core pillars (rhythmics, corporal solfège, and improvisation), it places the body as a mediator of musical knowledge, allowing students to explore, experiment, and express before reaching musical theory. This approach enhances motor coordination, creativity, attention, and memory while stimulating emotional expression and group interaction. Neuroscience supports these practices by showing that music simultaneously activates brain areas related to hearing, movement, and emotion, thus strengthening executive functions and socio-emotional skills. Its flexibility allows adaptation to different educational contexts without losing its pedagogical essence, making it an effective tool for comprehensive development in Primary Education.
