The Musicogram and its Implementation in the Secondary School Classroom

Abstract

This research highlights the potential and utility of the musicogram as an educational resource in the context of music education in Secondary Education. A review of the concept of musicogram and its main characteristics is conducted. Eight self-designed musicograms are presented, addressing various aspects of music education, such as body percussion, instrumentation, and movement. These are based on both traditional academic music and contemporary music to assess their impact on students’ predisposition and motivation towards the activities. The results indicate that 85% of students showed an increased interest in music when using the musicograms, and a 30% improvement in coordination and rhythmic skills was observed compared to previous classes. Furthermore, the use of contemporary music contributed to greater engagement, suggesting that adapting content to current student preferences can enhance their educational experience.
