Convergencias y conflictos. La Monarquía Católica y la Santa Sede (siglos XV-XVIII)

Resumen

RESUMEN: En este artículo se describe de manera muy general la compleja trama de relaciones existente entre España y la Santa Sede durante los siglos XVI y XVII. Dicho proceso bisecular se enmarca en cinco momentos muy caracterizados:

• 1485-1519: Plaza del Mundo.
• 1520-1559: Un rebaño y un pastor.
• 1560-1598: En defensa y ayuda de la Santa Sede.
• 1599-1655: Estar en el justo medio: la pax hispánica y la Guerra de los Treinta Años.
• 1655-1700: «Por no romper la quietud»: Entre la incertidumbre y la decadencia.

ABSTRACT: This article informs in a vast view about the complex relations between Spain and the Holy See during the 16th and 17th Centuries. It informs shortly about five periods:

• 1485-1519: Theatre of the World.
  
• 1520-1559: A flock and a shepherd.
  
• 1560-1598: In defense and help of the Holy See.
  
• 1599-1655: Being in the middle: Pax Hispánica and 30th Years War.
  
• 1655-1700: «Not to break the Peace»: Between uncertainty and decadence.
