Espacios y fronteras en el discurso territorial del reino de Asturias (del Cantábrico al Duero en las Crónicas Asturianas)

RESUMEN: El presente trabajo se plantea comprender cómo son descritos en las Crónicas Asturianas los espacios que formaban el Reino de Asturias en los siglos VIII y IX. Se intenta averiguar si había una lógica en el discurso territorial, tanto en lo que se refiere a las regiones septentrionales del Astororum Regnum como el que afecta a las áreas ganadas al enemigo al sur de la cordillera, que constituyeron una “frontera” en la meseta castellana. En trabajos siguientes se comparará esta visión con la de los cronistas posteriores.ABSTRACT: This work is aimed at understanding how the areas formed by the Kingdom of Asturias in the eighth and ninth century are described in the Crónicas Asturianas. An attempt is made to find out if there was a logic underlying the territorial discourse, both in what refers to the northern regions of the Astororum Regnum and in what deals with the area won from the enemy to de south of the Cantabrian mountains, which formed a “frontier” on the Castilian plain. Subsequent works will compare this view with that of later chroniclers.
