Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Studia Historica. Historia Contemporánea is a scholarly journal published yearly. Manuscripts submitted for publication are reviewed by external referees in a double-blind evaluation. The Editorial Board respects the intellectual freedom of authors and will not modify the opinions expressed in their manuscripts even though they may not agree with them.

The Editorial Board of Studia Historica. Historia Contemporánea will consider for publication high quality articles that make a scholarly contribution to our knowledge of contemporary history, whether it be a new topic, a different or more in-depth approach to a problem already identified in historiography, contribution of heretofore unknown information in relation to a specific historiographical question, or because of the potential applications of a new or more refined methodology.

This journal recommends and values the usage of inclusive language in the submitted proposals.

SEND A PROPOSAL: original manuscripts should be submitted in electronic format through the OJS platform as a doc. or docx. file, fully anonymized (including self-cites, which should be as few as possible). Additionally, a completely identified version must be submitted.

FORMAT GUIDELINES: they can be accessed here.

Material accompanying the text (figures, tables, graphics, maps, etc.) should be numbered using Arabic numerals and in order. Each of these elements should have a short title to define it and its source(s) must be indicated.

As a general rule, the Editorial Board will make a decision regarding the publication of a submitted manuscript within a maximum period of six months. The authors of articles accepted for publication will receive only one galley proof. During the correction process the authors may not increase the text by more than 5%, owing to publishing costs. Authors must also correct the proofs within 10 days, starting on the date of delivery.

Copyright belongs to the Journal, and permission must be sought from the Editorial Board, Ediciones Universidad de Salamanca and the authors for partial or total reproduction. In any case, the source of the original must be indicated when the texts are published again. Moreover, publication in Studia Historica. Historia Contemporánea does not give the author(s) any right to payment.

MONOGRAPHIC SECTIONS

From volume 40 (2022) onwards, SHHC accepts external proposals for the monographic part of every issue. The Editorial Board will be the one to aprove the proposals.

Every proposal should include a general abstract and a justification, as well as a tentative list of authors and papers. The recommended number of articles is 6-8. These papers will have to pass the same evaluation as the rest of the articles. The guest editor(s) will also have to write an introduction to the issue.

If you wish to submit a proposal, please fill in this form and send it to shhc@usal.es
