The emotion in the virtual world - new subjectivities... New psychological disturbances... A study based on concepts of Pierre Lévy

Abstract

This article approaches the human emotion in the virtual world. We studied the tenuous distinction among the pleasure in the use of the Internet and the appearance of psychological disturbances, under the form of compulsions and phobias, for instance. In the first part of the text we presented some recent study relative to the theme, of Kimberly S. Young and of Viktor Brenner. To proceed we characterized the Info Adicction Disorder (IAD), the most frequent symptoms - family, academic and professionals - and the existent controversy as the existence or not of such syndrome. At the end we discussed two concepts of Lévy - the four manners of being in the cyberspace and the collective intelligence - that show a more optimist vision with the man - technologies of information and communication (TIC) relationship. Although still little studied and until questioned by many, there are serious indications that the Info Adicction Disorder is a reality on this century.
