Role of information and comunication technologies in mathematical education. An experience for engineering degrees at Malaga University
Abstract In this paper we describe the strong movement that has been taking place in recent years among math teachers using Computer Algebra Systems (CAS) for changing the traditional use given to these tools. These new tendencies suggest that CAS should be used in ways that maximize the opportunities offered by these technologies, focusing on positively affecting student learning, significantly increasing opportunities for experimentation and allowing students to construct their own mathematical knowledge under the guidance of their teachers. We will describe the tasks we have been developing with our students in the University of Málaga and the results of our experience. These tasks have been developed within the framework of several Teacher's Educational Groups and different Educational Innovation Projects.
