Joaquín Sama: reformist teacher

Abstract

Joaquín Sama y Vinagre is a key figure in the development of the Free Teaching Institution who, in his first stage, developed criteria and principles through his written work. He tried to apply these criteria and principles to social-political and fundamentally education fields. He views teaching as the main tool for social tranformation and he dedicated his life and work to education trying out different innovative solutions and procedures; which have turned out to be extremely beneficial. An integral educational method stands out as well as the use of the intuitive method, encouraging the valves of a school along with those of reality.
