The author reflects on the relations between the State and the society in Peru in relation to the distinct «fractures» that were evident between Velasquismo and Fujimorismo, and passing through the dynamic of movementism in the decade of the 1980s. It starts with the hypothesis that there has been a rupture in the oligarchic order, although that has not meant the creation of a new alternative, owing to the successive economic and political crisis. The final result is a profound legitimacy crisis of the State, and consequently, the difficulty in constructing a new political, economic, and social order.
