Abstract

The Azagador and Abad Members of the Turre Formation of the Rambla de Arejos, in the Almería province, are studied in this paper. The Azagador Member consists of arenites and conglomerates with a calcareous cement, several meters thick, wich lies uncorformable on the Paleozoic. Its macrofauna is very monotonous, but the presence of Terebratula sinuosa and Chlamys (Aequipecten) scabrella must be emphasized. The Abad Member is a clayey marl, 90 m. thicli, characterized by the presence of abundant Foraminifera. These are mainly planktonic, although at the bottom and upper part they are predominantly bentonic. Among the latter, the abrupt change in composition, with a reduction of the number of species toward the upper part and the clear predominance of Uvigerina gaudrynoides group, is to be emphasized. In the Abad Member, the Globorotalia mediterránea and Globigerina multiloba Subzones of the Glororotalia conomiozea Zone proposed by D'Onofrio et al. are both represented. The Globorotalia acostaensis and the G. praehumerosa present a change in the sense of coiling wich is now dextral towards the upper part of the Abad Member.
