Caracteres estratigráficos del anticlinal de Riotinto
Abstract The stratigrafie and petrografie studies carried out at the Rio Tinto Area have permitted to define a detailed stratigrafie column. From these studies has been deduced that the core of the "so - called" Rio Tinto Anticlinal, considered as acid volcanic cloritized rocks (STRAUSS, 1970) and formed by a possible volcanic pipe (RAMBAUD, 1969), belong to the basic rocks formation underlying the acid rocks. The basic formation shows a very well defined bedding without any trace of volcanic chimney phenomena, and with a proved anticlinal structure and with no dome structure as indicated previously (RAMBAUD, 1969). The relationship between the sulphide bodies and the different stratigraphic units is defined too, as well as the possibility of occurrences of several levels of mineralisation.
