El Paleógeno del borde SW. de la Cuenca del Duero. I: Los escarpes del Tormes
Abstract The detailed study of the paleogene scarps north of the Tormes River between Salamanca and Babilafuente shows the presence of three different stratigraphie units named Salamanca, Cabrerizos and Aldearrubia sandstones respectively and corresponding to pre-Lutetian, Lutetian and Ludían ages. An essay of sequential correlation proved possitive with the first and second units. Through the mineral constituents and fossil remnants, a tropical humid climate becoming more arid can be ascertained for Eocene times. At last, the whole region has undergone an alpine orogenic pase with formation of fracture patterns.
