RESUMEN: El artículo analiza algunos aspectos de la narrativa breve en dos escritores italianos: Luca Doninelli y Vincenzo Pardini, autores con una clara vocación por el cuento, dotados de una gran sensibilidad hacia los cambios de la sociedad en la que viven, y también de una notable valentía narrativa que les impulsa a retratar, al margen de grupos editoriales o literarios, la realidad a menudo dura y desagradable de la Italia contemporánea.El milanés de adopción Luca Doninelli representa en sus cuentos la atormentada dignidad de una humanidad ciudadana y metropolitana. En cambio, Vincenzo Pardini tiene predilección por personajes que pertenecen a su Garfagnana natal, un mundo que, si bien ya no puede considerarse agreste, sin duda sigue siendo provinciano, periférico y, en cierta medida, primitivo.Esta «polaridad temática» nos proporciona las coordenadas en las que podemos colocar variantes, leer continuidades y discontinuidades, evidenciar analogías y diferencias en la representación de la realidad en dos narradores italianos de hoy.ABSTRACT: The article analyzes some aspects of short stories in two Italian writers: Luca Doninelli e Vincenzo Pardini, two authors with a clear vocation for tales, not only endowed with an acute sensitivity to grasp the changes within the society where they live but also with a great narrative courage which leads them to portray the reality often hard and unpleasant of contemporary Italy beyond commercial and literary interests.Luca Doninelli, Milanese by adoption, depicts the tormented dignity of metropolitan humanity in his short stories; on the contrary, Vincenzo Pardini prefers characters that belong to his native Garfagnana, that is to say, to a world that, even if we can no longer call rural, still remains provincial, peripheral and somehow «wild».This «thematic polarity» offers the coordinates where variants can be placed, where continuity and discontinuity can be read and where analogies and differences can be highlighted within the reality pictured by two narrators nowadays.
