Glosses from Tiberius Claudius Donatus in the «Virgil of Tours»: problems and perspectives (I)
Abstract The manuscripts Bernensis 165 (T ) and Vat. Lat. 1570 (F ) contain marginal and interlinear scholia from many sources, including Tiberius Claudius Donatus’ Interpretationes Vergilianae : a comparison between TF shows that their glosses descend independently from an earlier collection of excerpts now lost (? ), perhaps another Virgil cum glossis , which –as far as we understand– did not contain material independent of the codices potiores of the Interpretationes Vergilianae.
