Nueva lectura del "Diario intimo" de Unamuno

Abstract

The author, who had already worked on the Diario íntimo in 1962-1963 returns to it, approaching the topic through commentaries on the studies published since then, revisions on his own judgements, and the defense, with nuances, of the same thesis he presented thirty five years ago; both concerning Unamuno's 1897 crisis and the structuralization of Unamuno's personality, which influences his lack of authenticity, but not his comedy. All of this results in the perpetual contradiction in which he lived his life. Two aspects are analized in detail: the contradiction, as shown in the Diario íntimo, between reason and vital truth, dying and surviving. The statements are based on quotes and textual commentary on the Diario. All of this, after a re-reading that is more thorough than merely speculative.
