Unamuno en 1898: "El reinado social de Jesús" (En torno a un manuscrito inédito)

Abstract

ABSTRACT: This article analyzes the Unamuno's political ideas during the period between 1897 and 1900. In order to do this we are basing on an unpublished manuscript of the author, El reinado social de Jesús —which we present and transcribe— whose ideas pervade all his writings at the time. In those years Unamuno tries to reconcile his «scientific» socialism, which will last until the end of the century, with Christianity. This, on the other hand, shows that the «crisis» of 1897 does not imply a sudden abandonment of socialism, or in a broad sense, a sudden departure in Unamuno's way of thinking.
