Corporate museums: the musealization as march in the organizational culture

Abstract

Beyond mere exhibition spaces, corporate museums encompass a set of symbols that represent an organization’s culture in a practical and direct way. Whether they are formal museums such as Philips Museum (Eindhoven, NLD), Hering Museum (Blumenau, BRA) or Delta Flight Museum (Atlanta, USA), or interpretive and experience spaces like Heineken Experience (Amsterdam, NLD) or Fábrica La Rojena: Mundo Cuervo (Tequila, MEX), or else ethno-historical references such as old tools, photographs or documents strategically displayed in the organization’s premises. All of them reflect the organizational culture, which is an essential element for it vitality and cohesion, as a multidimensional means of communication among the institution, its members and external audiences. The examples multiply as organizations realize the power resulting from the recognition of its cultural identity. The theme has become a growing focus of Anthropology today.
