Abstract

The article analyzes institutional violence in the Child Protection System from the perspective of adolescents and young people in residential or family foster care in Spain, drawing on qualitative research based on group interviews and semantic network analysis. Six supra-categories on discomfort and claims in the protection system emerged, linked to relational aspects, quality of care and the protagonism or participation of institutionalized adolescents. This article concludes with a reflection on the importance of institutional violence in protection system, to correct public policies and to design strategies to minimize it.
