DIRECTORS

Responsibilities:

  1. They represent the journal institutionally and constitute its ultimate authority in the event of any conflict.
  2. They make strategic decisions: they define the identity of the journal, the topics it covers, the most suitable publication format aligned with strategic objectives, etc.
  3. They oversee compliance with the editorial and scientific policy.
  4. They are responsible for maintaining the journal’s indexations.

The journal is led by two directors. Their selection follows the criteria below:

  1. One of the two must belong to the University of Salamanca. This ensures close contact between the journal's leadership and the publishing house that manages its issues (Ediciones Universidad de Salamanca).
  2. The other must belong to a foreign university.
  3. Gender parity will be ensured: 50 %-50 %.
  4. They must have demonstrated excellence in their professional work.
  5. They must have maintained ties with the University Institute for Science and Technology Studies or, failing that, with the University of Salamanca.

The members of this team are permanent and form part of the core management of the journal. Every four years, the renewal of this body will be assessed in agreement with the editorial team. The term may not exceed six years. New members of this editorial body will be proposed by the Directors and approved by consensus of the editorial team.

 

EDITORS-in-CHIEF

Mariano Martín Villuendas, Jagiellonian University, Poland

Benedicto Acosta Díaz, University of Salamanca, Spain

Responsibilities:

  1. Participate in defining the editorial line and policy of the journal: selecting topics and publication formats that constitute the journal's strategic focus.
  2. Oversee the journal's daily operations: receiving manuscripts, assigning them to section editors, managing peer review timelines, and corresponding with authors and reviewers.
  3. Ensure compliance with all steps defined in the editorial policy: assignment of two reviewers per manuscript, gender parity in the selection of reviewers and authors, and management through the OJS platform.
  4. Take part in the editing and publication processes.
  5. Oversee the planning of each issue, ensuring timely and proper publication.
  6. Define, together with the section editors, the topic of the annual thematic issue.
  7. Ensure coherence and coordination in the actions of the section editors.
  8. Are responsible for maintaining the journal’s website and social media presence.
  9. Are responsible for maintaining the journal’s indexations.

The journal is managed by two Editors-in-Chief, ensuring that the daily operations of the journal are consistently maintained. The selection criteria are as follows:

  1. At least one must be affiliated with the University of Salamanca. This guarantees close coordination with the journal’s governing bodies and the publishing house that manages its issues (Ediciones Universidad de Salamanca).
  2. They must have demonstrated excellence in their professional work.
  3. They must have proven experience in editorial management.
  4. Their expertise must align with one or more of the journal’s thematic areas.
  5. They must have maintained ties with the University Institute for Science and Technology Studies or, alternatively, with the University of Salamanca.

Members of this team are permanent and form part of the journal’s core management structure. Every four years, the renewal of this body will be assessed in agreement with the editorial team. The term may not exceed six years. New members of this editorial body will be proposed by the Editors-in-Chief and approved by consensus of the editorial team.

SECTION EDITORS

Responsibilities:

  1. Together with the Directors and Editors-in-Chief, they participate in defining and supporting the journal's editorial policy.
  2. They are responsible for the manuscripts assigned by the Editors-in-Chief. To this end, they propose reviewers, manage the peer review process, mediate between reviewers and authors, and issue a final decision.
  3. They suggest potential thematic issues and guest editors.
  4. They promote the journal.

The journal has as many section editors as lines of research it encompasses. In the present case, it must have four. The selection criteria are as follows:

  1. They must be affiliated with an institution external to the University of Salamanca.
  2. Gender parity must be ensured: 50 %-50 %.
  3. They must have proven research experience in the relevant field.

Members of this team are permanent and form part of the journal’s core management structure. Every four years, the renewal of this body will be assessed in agreement with the editorial team. The term may not exceed six years. New members of this editorial body will be proposed by the Directors and approved by consensus of the editorial team.

 

EDITORIAL SECRETARY

Responsibilities:

  1. To inform new members from the University of Salamanca who join the various governing bodies about their roles and the editorial functioning of the journal.

The journal has at least one editorial secretary. The selection criteria are as follows:

  1. Must be technical staff from the Institute for Science and Technology Studies (USAL).
  2. Must be familiar with the internal operations of the journal and the editorial policies of Ediciones Universidad de Salamanca.

The continuity and possible replacement of members of this body will be the responsibility of the journal’s directors, who will propose new candidates when necessary.

 

HONORARY DIRECTOR

Miguel Ángel Quintanilla Fisac, University of Salamanca, Spain

Responsibilities:

  1. Institutional representation of the journal.
  2. Technical and scientific advisory support to the editorial team.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Having held a prominent position within the journal's management bodies or within the Institute for Science and Technology Studies to which the journal is affiliated (such as founding member or director).
  2. Having held the title of Emeritus Professor.
