Rotattional testing. Technique and interpretation

Abstract

Introduction and Objective: The rotatory test has been described since the last century due to some findings evidenced by Dr. Robert Bárány. The most used tests are the Impulsive Test and the Sinusoidal Rotary Test. Method: We performed this review to try to summarize the pathophysiological bases that underlie the use of the rotary chair, make a handbook of use and interpretation of the test. Results and conclusions: The rotatory test is very useful in patients with bilateral vestibular hypofunction, in people we can not perform caloric study, for evaluation of the vestibular compensation and for the diagnosis of central pathologies.
