Abstract

Introduction: Middle ear tumors, particularly hemangiomas, are rare entities. The middle ear hemangioma is a benign vascular tumor commonly found in older males, with a variable clinical presentation and complicated diagnosis. Objective: The objective of this article is to present the case of a patient with a cavernous hemangioma in the middle ear, highlighting its symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment. Case Description: A 42-year-old pregnant patient with no significant medical history presented with left facial paralysis and otologic symptoms. On examination, a reddish mass was observed in the middle ear, which, after several complementary tests, was suggestive of a glomus tympanicum. Three months later, the otologic symptoms worsened, leading to surgical intervention and removal of the mass. The definitive diagnosis of cavernous hemangioma was confirmed through histological analysis. Conclusions: Middle ear hemangiomas are rare and may present symptoms such as hearing loss and tinnitus. Computed tomography is essential for diagnostic orientation. The differential diagnosis includes glomus tympanicum among other entities, and surgical intervention with complete tumor resection is crucial for a definitive diagnosis and successful treatment
