For a critical communication of science

Abstract

In this paper we try to identify those conditions which are necessary for communicating science in a critical sense. These conditions concern not only scientific action and knowledge, but also the models and mechanisms for science communication. Here, we propose a fallibilist conception of science –following Popper and Peirce–, as well as a model of science communication based upon the systems theory, following Evandro Agazzi’s suggestion. Finally, from these perspectives, we explore scientific journalism as one of the current expressions of this critical dimension of the communication of science.
