Exilio, batallas y lealtades divididas: la diáspora militar irlandesa en los ejércitos de Francia e Inglaterra (1691-1700)
Resumen
La diáspora militar irlandesa, resultado de la derrota del bando jacobita en la Guerra de los Dos Reyes (1689-1691) y el Tratado de Limerick, tuvo como núcleo principal el ejército de Luis XIV. En el contexto de la Guerra de los Nueve Años, en la que Francia se enfrentó a una coalición de potencias europeas, el Roi Soleil aprovechó la experiencia de los veteranos irlandeses, quienes demostraron su valor en numerosas ocasiones entre 1691 y 1697. Aunque la historiografía militar ha explorado ampliamente las trayectorias de los regimientos irlandeses en términos de batallas en las que intervinieron y la oficialidad, aún persisten áreas poco exploradas. Dos de ellas, objeto de estudio, son los derroteros de los soldados de dicha nación al servicio del monarca francés en los diferentes frentes europeos y de aquellos que formaron parte de las iniciativas respaldadas por Guillermo III, el rey-estatúder, a través de diversas expediciones y campañas.
