Abstract

This paper makes a number of considerations concerning the origins of the Banu Qasi family. Contrary to recent contributions, which have suggested a social supremacy that was achieved in Umayyad times, this paper attempts to demonstrate that this supremacy can be dated in the period before the conquest.
