Desvelando el antiguo oficio: el uso de resina en época romana en la villa del Pla de l’Horta (Girona)
Resumen
En el marco de la vertiente productiva de la villa romana del Pla de l’Horta, un yacimiento que ha revelado abundantes datos sobre la producción vinícola y otras actividades económicas de la Antigüedad, podemos aportar nuevos datos de interés. Entre sus múltiples facetas productivas, destaca una actividad: el uso de la resina en la época romana. Este artículo profundiza en el origen y el uso de la resina en este asentamiento romano, fundado a finales de la época republicana y abandonado en el s. v d. C., centrándose en la fase tardorromana, en la que hemos detectado el uso de brea en los dolia de un almacén. Utilizando datos antracológicos y químicos, demostramos el uso de la brea como betún para preparar y proteger los recipientes destinados al almacenamiento de aceite. Se considera aquí el uso de resina como material para la preparación, el mantenimiento y la reparación de recipientes cerámicos de gran formato.
