The Geography of the lacus Ligustinus in Strabo 3.1.9
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to analyse a paragraph of Strabo’s Geography about the course from Gadeira to the Sacred Promontory (3.1.9). The information offered by this text, combined with archaeological and geo-archaeological studies, provides some details about the lacus Ligustinus’ geography between the Roman conquest and the change of Era, which had not been taken into account so far. As a result, we are able to reconstruct the navigation route in this environment.
