Vino, sal y pasas por harina pescado y duelas: El tráfico marítimo comercial estadounidense con España a finales del siglo XVIII (1780-1800). Una primera aproximación
Resumen En este artículo se aborda el tema del tráfico marítimo comercial entre los puertos estadounidenses del distrito de Filadelfia y los de Nueva Inglaterra con España, en los años turbulentos de finales del siglo XVIII. En primer lugar, se analiza la red consular estadounidense en España, que parece depender de la percepción que los mercaderes y capitanes tenían acerca de su utilidad. Posteriormente, se aborda el análisis del movimiento de navíos hacia y desde los puertos españoles, las rutas habituales utilizadas por este tráfico y las mercancías objeto de este comercio. También se hace un exhaustivo examen de las fuentes utilizadas, especialmente la documentación de las aduanas estadounidenses, junto a correspondencia comercial y la prensa.
