Revisión de las crónicas de Ralph de Diceto y de la «Gesta Regis Ricardi» sobre la participación de la Flota Angevina durante la Tercera Cruzada en Portugal

Abstract

This article explores the Anglo-Norman military intervention during the Third Crusade on the Portuguese coasts, by analysing the narratives of Ralph of Diceto and the Gesta regis Ricardi. It then examines the motives that produced the multiple interventions by the Anglo-Norman fleets from the point of view of the English historiography of the crusades to the Levant. Finally, it discuses the contemporary perception and the consequences of these incursions to the peninsula, and the later interventions of Nordic crusaders in Iberia.
