Calidad de vida en familiares y niños con implante coclear y audífonos

Resumen

Introducción:  El cuestionario KINDL se usa de forma recurrente para estimar la calidad de vida (CdV) y los efectos de bienestar en las actividades cotidianas de los niños. El objetivo de este estudio: fue descubrir cómo los niños con implantes cocleares (IC) o audífonos (A) reconocen su calidad de vida (CdV) y comparar sus autoinformes y los informes de los padres sobre su CdV.  Material y método: La muestra de niños con IC (n=187) y A (n=113) y de padres de niños con IC (n=115) y A (n=29) contestaron, respectivamente, las versiones de KINDL para niños o padres. Se aplicó un MANOVA de una vía para determinar si había diferencias entre los grupos independientes (niños y padres) en más de una variable dependiente continua (dimensiones de KINDL) y un coeficiente de correlación intraclase para ver en qué medida concordaban varias medidas cuantitativas de KINDL. Además, calculamos la concordancia para los sujetos de las muestras evaluando la variabilidad de sus diferencias. Resultados: Los niños con IC percibieron la CdV de forma distinta y con puntajes inferiores respecto de los niños con A en las diferentes escalas vinculadas al cuestionario KINDL. Existió un “buen acuerdo” entre los autoinformes de los niños con IC y A, y los informes parentales de niños con IC y A en la CdV total (.65). Conclusiones: Se pueden utilizar los hallazgos de este estudio para crear estrategias de asesoramiento familiar sobre las necesidades sociales y educativas de los niños con IC y A.
