Nueva axiología de la España del siglo XVIII en el contexto europeo

Resumen

RESUMEN: La revisión de las creencias básicas que realiza Europa en el siglo XVIII tiene su correlato en España donde, al mismo tiempo que se cuestionan y reinterpretan los conceptos tradicionales, van perfilándose el sentido de las principales nociones dieciochescas. Se analizan en esta axiología el «nuevo arquetipo humano» en relación con la mentalidad burguesa y las cualidades que corresponden al hombre de bien y el hombre social (sinceridad, autenticidad, sensibilidad y buen gusto). Asimismo el cambio en el concepto de pasiones, la idea de progreso y el sentido otorgado a la noción de felicidad. El artículo abunda en la interpretación del humor, la ironía y la risa, del lujo para enmarcar estos conceptos en la nueva idea de sociabilidad y el principio de utilidad, y también en el cambio de usos y costumbres y en el sentido de la fe que conlleva el siglo XVIII.ABSTRACT: The revision of basic beliefs carried out in Europe in the eighteenth century has its correlation in Spain, where, at the same time that the traditional concepts were questioned and reinterpreted, the sense of the main eighteenth century notions were developing. In this axiology an analysis is made of the «new human archetype» in relation to bourgeois mentality and the qualities corresponding to «the good man» and «the social man» (sincerity, genuineness, sensibility and good taste). The change in the concept of passions, the idea of progress and the sense given to the notion of happiness are also analysed. The article deals with the interpretation of humour, irony and laughter, the luxury to frame these concepts in the new idea of sociability and the principie of utility, and also in the change of uses and customs and in the sense of faith in the eighteenth century.
