In this article, we offer a study of various prehistoric rupestrian shrines which have been unknown until now. They all belong to a collection of cult centres spread around the west-centre of Spain; although they are closely related to others which have been discovered in the region of Galitis and in Celtiberia. It is probable that, in certain cases, these centres existed as such during the Roman Empire but those features characteristic of their ceremonial and liturgical rites —apart from their symbolism— belong to previous times. That is why, as we have set down in previous occasions, we adscribe the existence of such religious monuments to the prehistoric and protohistoric world. Within the collection of shrines that we present here, there are several new features such as the representations of hands and those of the male genital organs. We have studied another one which shows a great profusion of dimples. We also offer an interpretation of those. We think we should turn to a thorough examination of primary symbols since, according to all evidence, this is precisely what used to set main representational standars for men in the Ancient World.
