Algunas consideraciones sobre Romanos y Partos en la frontera del Éufrates

Resumen

RESUMEN: Este artículo pretende iniciar una serie de investigaciones centradas en la frontera oriental y los procesos culturales que se van a producir en ella fruto de la interrelación entre partos y romanos. A través de tres ciudades, escogidas por sus específicas condiciones y por encontrarse con elementos de especial relevancia dentro de la investigación, se persigue profundizar en las nuevas concepciones que sobre la frontera han ido asentando los más modernos estudios, que buscan alejarla de su definición exclusivamente política o militar, para acercarla más al posible concepto que tras el término Limes debió entenderse en su momento, así como la compleja realidad cultural que escondía. El comercio y la difusión religiosa constituyeron sus elementos principales de contacto, pero también la intervención directa desde el estado romano supuso cambios importantes en la cultura de las ciudades fronterizas, en especial cuando se pretendió la conquista y se utilizaron los elementos de propaganda para intentar transformarlos y asimilarlos a su sociedad y cultura.ABSTRACT: This paper pretend to begin a series of investigation about the Oriental frontier and the cultural process that they are going to produce in it, product of the interrelationship between Parthians and Romans. Three cities are chose for it specific conditions and because they have elements of special relevancy in the investigation. It's searched to deepen in the new conceptions that about the frontier are going to affirm the most modern studies, that like to estrange of an exclusive or military definition, in order to approach to the most possible concept at the Limes term in the antiquity and to the complicated cultural reality that is behind. The commerce and the religious diffusion are the principal elements of contact, but the direct intervention from the Roman state denoted important changes in the culture of the frontier cities, specially when the conquest is pretended and it's used the elements of propaganda in order to try to transform and assimilate to its culture and society.
