Abstract

Several specimens of fossil leatherback turtle from the upper Miocene (Tortonian) Gram Formation are described and illustrated scientifically for the first time. The specimens are all referred to the taxon Psephophorus polygonus and constitute the northernmost occurrence of this taxon in the geological record. Additionally, they indicate that leatherback turtles were a common constituent of the marine fauna of the Late Miocene North Sea Basin.
